Student Powered Food.
Burlington School Food Project and Dealer.com have teamed up on a cutting-edge food truck program that serves classic concessions with a Vermont twist while teaching culinary and job skills to Burlington teens. Launched in spring 2014 and known around town as Fork in the Road, the food truck is an extension of BSFP’s existing gardening and cooking programs that takes the district’s dynamic food culture to the streets.
At the heart of the mobile restaurant is a culinary job-training program that employs students from both Burlington High School and Burlington Technical Center. Learning through the food truck will also be integrated into academic classes, such as financial literacy and culinary arts. The food truck will serve as a mobile classroom during the school year and a source of individual learning during summer months.
