Matthew Webb comes to his fellowship from Winooski High School, where he has been an English teacher since 2009. Previously, he taught at several schools in Vermont, most notably as a team teacher in Williamstown, where he collaborated with science and social studies teachers to develop the Living Systems curriculum, in which 10th graders focused their core learning around sustainability and the intersection of biological and social systems. He believes that effective collaboration among educators increases students’ motivation through relevant and related curricula, facilitates their achievement by creating a community of belonging and support, and provides both students and teachers with flexibility in time, space, and activities to regain ownership of the learning process. A graduate of Amherst College, Matt is currently a master’s candidate in school leadership at St. Michael’s College. He also serves on the board of directors of the Vermont NEA. Matt lives with his spouse and two cats in Fletcher.
